Teaching families how to stay safer and be smarter online with an empowering educational game that spans both digital and physical worlds.
Created in collaboration with Google’s Be Internet Legends programme and Parent Zone.
THE KIT + LEGENDS QUIZ
Distributed to thousands of schoolchildren across the UK, every BYL kit contains an unassembled, 3D-printed Legend trophy. To unlock instructions, big and small humans need to work together to answer twenty questions on topics relating to digital safety, security and respectful online behaviour. Once completed, the digital trophy is brought to life and families are rewarded with a physical keepsake to put on display.

At the end of the quiz, families can personalise their digital trophy with a number of delightful design elements. Parents are invited to advocate for the Be Internet Legends programme by sharing their customised character via social or direct messaging platforms.
THE PARENTS PAGE
As an additional resource, we created a helpful handbook stuffed with tips, tricks and activities for supporting children’s digital education. Easily accessed from the BYL quiz, or in any browser, it was featured on Google’s homepage on multiple occasions in 2021.

RESPONSE
In 2021, over 275,000 kits were handed out nationwide. The positive response was extraordinary, with many taking to social media to share their love for the initiative.
The project also came Highly Commended at the Design Week Awards.
